One dream. One ticket. One direction.
Luca Wolf plays American football and has made the jump from Vienna to the Tennessee Volunteers, one of the best known college programmes in the United States. For an Austrian player that is a rare route, and it usually happens unnoticed, because nobody is there when the decision is made. The film was there to close that gap.
I followed Luca as a documentary subject and deliberately left out the highlights in favour of what sits between them: training, doubt, saying goodbye. Filming took place in Austria and in the United States. I edited the film with my own sound design and kept the telling calm, so that it also works for people who have nothing to do with football. What came out of it is a short documentary about the price of a decision, and that is exactly why it is understood far beyond the football scene.
